I have been tagged!

Hi,

It seems like forever since I have had time to post. Where does all the time go??

I have finally completed all the stitcheries for Ruth's quilt. I am using red & green fabrics as you can see in the pic.

Today we took the children to the snow. It was Ebony's first time to the snow. We had a blast. We went to Ben Lomond which had a good covering of snow. It was a gorgeous sunny day so apart from the snow it really wasn't that cold.

I have been tagged by the lovely Sandra from foothills fabric and threads. http://foothillsfabricandthreads.typepad.com/

Could somebody please tell me how to add a link without showing the http addy, just the name of the link. This techno stuff gets me every time. ok, here goes my seven random things:

1. I did an apprenticeship as an electrician when I left high school.

2. I have 3 children ages 13, 11 & 7.

3. I have had brain surgery twice. (everything is cool now!)

4. I am left handed.

5.When I got my license my first mode of transport was a motorbike.

6. My fave dessert is cheesecake.

7. I am petrified of snakes.

Ok. on my next post I will tag 7 others. Hopefully in the meantime I will learn how to link properly!!

Rules for the tag are each blogger should list 7 random facts about themselves and list these rules for the tag. Next tag 7 others and list their names on your blog. Leave a comment for each of the tagged on their blogs letting them know they have been tagged and to visit your blog for the rules.

Ruth's Quilt.

Hi, Isn't it great that it's Friday. I had a little drive in the country yesterday to meet a client and whilst driving I thought......fantastic it's Friday!.....sleep in tomorrow etc...Then the harsh blow of reality....it's only Thurs. Don't you hate that.

But, anyway it's friday today and I am happy about that.

Today I am sharing a project I started back in March (yes, it was this year!!)

Ruth's Quilt, designed by Leanne Beasley. This is my second Ruth's Quilt. The first was a wedding present for my brother. I have decided to have a red/green theme this time. The last one I made in reds, greens, browns and pinks.
Have a great weekend, Kristyx

That's Me!

A few months ago myself and 2 friends got together to make Leanne Beasley's Quilter's Journal. What fun we had! They came out so well. Being the slacker that I am, I am yet to finish mine. I will post a pic of my journal soon. For those of you that have never seen the quilter's journal here is a link.

I was so suprised to see the latest 'Homespun' magazine. My friend Sarah had emailed a pic of our crafting session to the mag. So here we are.

Myself far left, Roseanne and Sarah on the right.

In a bind!

Finally, I am sewing down the binding on Leanne's House Bom. I thought this day would never come. I am already day dreaming about which project I am going to work on next. Really I need to knock a few UFO's over before I can begin on a new project. I will show a few yet to be finished projects in my next blogs. I must say I am pretty pleased to be nearing the end of this one. Do you get like that when you have been working on something for a long time?

Till next time

Take care, Kristyx

One tiny stitch at a time.

Hi, I am up early for work this morning. Why is it when you have a few days off (4) that you think you are going to accomplish so much? I have done bugger all apart from housework.

I did manage to get within minutes of finishing the hand quilting on my 'Leanne's House' BOM. I am so excited. It looks great if I do say so myself. So hopelfully sometime this week I will get the binding on and a label for the back. I have so enjoyed making this one. The best instructions ever.

Then once this is done I will move onto another UFO. I am about 2/3 of the way through quilting a large quilt made from wuthering heights fabric.

Here is a pic of the new cupboard for my bedroom. I have a better pic but I can't figure out how to get it up the right way. This techno stuff gets me every time. lol
Sorry this pic is a little blurry...had 13 yo daughter Lauren take the photo.
After investigating as to why every photo was blurry, it was discovered that her lens was "grubby". LOL
Til' next time. Kristyx

Ebony's colourful skirt

Hi there.

My 7 yo daughter Ebony requested a colourful skirt with red and pink in it.

We went to Spotlight last weekend and Ebony picked out the fabrics herself. Can't you tell! Children have such interesting colour co-ordinating skills when it comes to dressing....LOL

It doesn't look to bad with her little red shoes which she wears with tiny pink socks and a red and pink jacket.

I could not find a pattern to make a skirt. All the ones we picked out of the catalogues at Spotlight were sold out. Don't you hate that!

So...I made up my own. It is far from perfect but it worked out ok.

I have since found a tutorial on the net to make a tiered skirt.

Here is the link http://www.kukyideas.com/journal/2006/07/tiered-skirt-tutorial.html

Thanks to Kuky Ideas.

I am off for a walk now with a friend who lives down the road.

Pics are:

1.skirt front

2. skirt back.

Till next time, Happy stitching.

Leanne's House Bom.

Hi There,

Here are the pics of my Leanne's House BOM as promised. I am 2/3 of the way through hand quilting. It is starting to become a bit of a drag. But I will persist with it till it is complete. My fingers are itching to start something new. This is my downfall! I am the queen of UFO's. LOL.

Second pic is a close up of my hand quilting. Nice BIG stitches in Ecru DMC perle8. Much easier than quilting cotton.
